On the beautiful grounds of Maine Maritime Museum, a team of designers will create floral sculptures that tell a story and bring people together. The arrangements will be build using local, seasonal flowers and sustainable mechanics.
We invite you to search for all the creations, ask questions, and spend time with the flowers. Through guided tours, education opportunities, and immersive events, we hope to encourage a connection to flowers that promotes sourcing stems from Maine farms, incorporating beauty from our natural landscapes, and choosing sustainable mechanics.
Meet the Floral Artists
Maria Salcines
Maria Salcines of Fogwood Gardens is a floral artist and flower grower who creates seasonally inspired floral art. She designs with bold color, offerings from the landscapes, and the belief that flowers have a language of their own. She honors her stewardship to the land by using sustainable, reusable mechanics, and locally grown or foraged blooms. Maria believes that people are meant to gather around flowers, and that they can be repurposed into different art forms. Through various preservation techniques, Maria encourages people to spend more time with flowers and enjoy them at all stages.

Katie Dionne
Born and raised in Maine, Katie has always drawn inspiration from the state’s natural beauty and four seasons. She strives for an aesthetic that is saturated and accentuated by textured greens, showcased through dark atmospheric tones, wild-harvested stems, and diverse foliage. Over the course of her career she has become increasingly focused on sustainability, utilizing seasonal and local items to limit her carbon footprint while maintaining balance in her designs.

Electric Flora Michelle Rechs
Electric Flora is a floral designer who believes flowers should never be boring. Her work is all about energy, color, and texture—arrangements that feel alive and a little unexpected. She loves breaking away from tradition and creating pieces that surprise: bold bouquets, moody centerpieces dripping with jewel tones, or sculptural installations that transform a space. For Michelle, floral design is storytelling—capturing a feeling, sparking joy, and leaving a lasting impression through art made of flowers.
Kathryn Hogan
Kathryn Hogan is a teacher, dried flower artist, and a Maine master gardener with an at home cut flower garden. She creates dried floral designs rooted in textures and movement inspired by Maine's wild meadows and rugged coastlines. Kathryn has her Masters in Education, is a high school ESOL teacher, and has a certificate in Horticulture from USM that has led to her passion for dried flowers. Kathryn loves to support others in exploring various flower drying methods and inspiring others to form a love for dried florals.

Rachel Alexandrou is an artist and forager who uses her education in plant science, and collaborative practice, to create experiential work about food, flora, and innovating human relationships to the natural landscape. She has a B.S. in Environmental Horticulture and a 400 hour certificate in community herbalism from the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine and has taught at Haystack School of Crafts and shown work during the Venice Biennale.

With over sixteen years of experience designing wedding flowers, I moved my business from Boston to Midcoast Maine in 2019. Since then, I’ve found a welcoming, creative community of wedding professionals who value collaboration and care as much as beautiful results.
I’m grateful to work closely with local flower farms, sourcing the freshest seasonal blooms available and prioritizing sustainability, quality, and thoughtful design. My approach is personal and attentive, offering clients a calm, well-considered experience alongside beautifully crafted floral design. My work is inspired by the natural elegance of Maine—flowers that feel abundant yet refined, effortless yet intentional.

Half Moon Valley Homestead Laura Pierpont
Laura is an artist whose mediums span photography, farming/floral design, death work and creating magic cabin spaces for people to feel connected to themselves and life. The core threads are always presence, beauty and the ephemeral.
She holds a BFA in Art/Photo with supplemental study and experience in photography (particularly film), hospitality and is a certified Death Doula with Going with Grace.
