Floating Flowers Workshop with Fogwood Gardens

  • Fogwood Gardens LLC 725 Old Stage Road Arrowsic, ME, 04530 United States (map)

In honor of daylight savings, join me for an afternoon in the yurt making floating flower strands using the last dried flowers of the season. Floating flowers are elegant and effortless to create. Using the lattice and rafters in the yurt, we will fill the space with the delicate, beautiful strands. Created using fine bullion wire, the flowers, seed pods, and grasses appear to be floating, adding a magical feeling to your interior spaces.

In addition to creating, we will also talk about the importance and process of drying flowers. I will describe the stems that we are using, and answer any questions you may have about dried flowers.

When: Sunday, March 8th from 2:00-4:00 PM

Where: Fogwood Gardens Yurt // 725 Old Stage Road Arrowsic, ME

Snacks and refreshments will be served :)

Each participant will be given bullion wire, and the ability to create five floating floating flower strands at roughly 4 feet long. Typically, a strand will hold ten flower, grass or seed heads each. However, the spacing that you choose to use can impact this. If you would prefer to make longer strands, that is up to you, but I will be planning for each participant to use about 50+ stems each. Since this is the last dried flower workshop of the year, I plan to bring in baskets and baskets of flowers and let you choose whichever stems you desire.

These strands can be hung however you imagine, but they make beautiful installation material. I recommend hanging a branch and suspending your floating flower strands from it to create a beautiful floral installation in your home that you can interact with over time.
