Stevie's Poetry Workshop: Whisper of Spring

  • Fogwood Gardens LLC 725 Old Stage Road Arrowsic, ME, 04530 United States (map)

Writing to the theme of a “Whisper of Spring,” inspired by an on-site floral art wall installation.

Join us in the yurt as we weave themes of resilience, transformation, and new beginnings in support of our intentions this February.

As the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox passes, marked by Imbolc and Saint Brigid’s Day on February 1st, and the year of the snake sheds the last of its skin in the final weeks before the Lunar New Year brings in the year of the horse on February 17th, the earth stirs from her stillness, and we do with her, on the threshold between seasons.

Our writings will be inspired by this liminal time and the ways we experience it. We will draw inspiration from the presence of a freshly crafted floral wall installation by Maria Salcines of Fogwood Gardens, called “Whisper of Spring.”

Composed of evergreens, tulips, ranunculus, and winter treasures, this installation serves as a physical embodiment of springtime wisdom brought together in a unified message of beauty and strength.

We will explore some of the traditional spiritual meanings of the plants as well as our personal associations with this time of year, to write poems that express and support our own new beginnings. This workshop is designed to be meditative and immersive. Writers of all skill levels are welcome to join. There will be light refreshments.

About The Fogwood Yurt

  • The Fogwood yurt is located in the heart of Fogwood Gardens and offers an intimate interior space that will be warmed with a woodstove. Enjoy the creature comforts of a full kitchen to warm up tea, indoor composting toilet, and a front deck in line with the tree canopies. The yurt was created with the intention to apply perspective on the surroundings, and to invite feelings of relaxation.

Parking

  • The yurt is located at 725 Old Stage Road, Arrowsic. There are two driveways. The upper driveway is parking for a private residence. Continue about 100 feet down the road and you will see the lower driveway with a small Fogwood Gardens sign in front. This is the driveway where you will be parking.

  • The driveway is long and there should be plenty of room to park. However, with a full event some cars may be blocked in. We will be mindful of this at the event's conclusion.
